‘Accurate Thinking’ & Honest Assessment

Posted in: Blog by admin on June 30, 2010

Dan often references the “law of success no one likes to think about” from Napoleon Hill.
Accurate Thinking.

In other words, the truth often does hurt.

So, today, perhaps a little pain, after all, there isn’t much medicine better for motivating you that a spoon full of that.

Today marks the MIDPOINT of the Year 2010.

Compared to your benchmarks, goals, objectives, predictions, and plans – Where does your progress stack up…?

I’ll give you a little hint.  If you can at least answer the question, you’re half right.  Because most people can’t.

In fact, most people don’t have any of the 5 mentioned above.  Only Successful people truly want to be accountable to themselves… and even still, that doesn’t mean it’s easy.

It’s just that they want it that bad.

I remember long ago, one of the first Audio Cassettes I listed to from Zig Ziglar where he talked about and reiterated over and over that You don’t “pay the price” for success, “you enjoy the price.”

Either way, there was and always is, a Price.

Today, 6 months into 2010, take an honest assessment of where You are, where You were, and where You want to be.

As you know, you can’t take 6 month snapshots and get anywhere, You’ve got to take daily, weekly, monthly, actually, hourly, moment by moment snapshots of everything in and around You.

That’s a big enough dose of reality for one day.

But I don’t want to leave You without a helpful tip on how to make the next 6 months more prosperous, profitable, progressive, and rewarding…

Here it is:

Set yourself up for success by putting more structured things around You to make You successful, to force accurate thought, and facilitate your growth in all areas.

I get paid what many would consider an ‘unreasonable’ hourly amount to bring this to my private coaching members – because it is as valuable as anything else you do, it makes everything else ‘happen’ more, better, faster.

(That’s no pitch, there’s a waiting list.)

But at minimum You ought to taking full advantage of our GKIC Indy Chapter Events where we put you in an environment every month to do exactly what I’m talking about in this email message.

Assuring You will not go 6 more months without real, tangible, observable progress and growth in your business.

If not with us – somewhere.  Take time to reflect and take this advice to heart.  You’ll thank me for this swift kick, I promise.

Like, Hate, Differentiate

Posted in: Blog by admin on June 23, 2010

To give credit where it’s deserved, those 3 words came from one of my top Private Coaching and Mastermind Members Matt Hall.  An astute businessman and successful entrepreneur, when presenting during his turn at our all-day Intense Mastermind Session – he asked everyone to give their input on each one as it relates to his Industry and Business.

I loved it and didn’t have the chance to tell him just how much, since he’s reading this email with You, he now knows.

I’m going to use it slightly differently – and tell you about Me, maybe about You.  Then I’ll get to the point.

Why people like me –

  • I don’t mess around, ever.  Or waste time, opportunity, life.
  • I move fast, get shit done, and seemingly turn just about everything into a success. (keyword, seemingly)
  • I do what I say, when I say it.
  • I look for ways to exploit the good, turn the bad into good, and always capitalize on everything.  I’m never deterred.
  • I’m picky, choosey, demanding, and intolerant.
  • I respect people, am generous, and am good natured,
  • I’m intense, aggressive, OCD, and odd, weird, maybe even clinically crazy.
  • I often predict the future, being right, because I’m willing to take a risk in the first place.
  • I could go on, there’s a long list, I’m liked at least a little by just about everybody…

Why people hate me –

  • I could go on, there’s a long list, I’m hated at least a little by just about everybody…

What differentiates me –

I’ll save you the reading…it’s the same list.
I would imagine You could relate to many of the items.  And those You can’t, You probably should.  Oh, believe me, don’t take this as bragging, every one of them is a catch-22, and learned or conditioned traits, habits, and behaviors.

The point of course is that Success, Wealth, Entrepreneurship is a double-sided coin, and people could perceive You either way.  That’s why You’ve got to be focused and committed to YOUR purpose, agenda, direction – not at the whim of others’ thoughts, feelings, and ideas about You or what Your doing.

I’ll leave You with two other things, both to think about, and work on.

First: back to Matt Hall – You must differentiate yourself.  The shortcut exercise to doing this is making a list of why people like/hate your business/industry, then how you can differentiate against these items.  If you look at your competition and/or industry it must not be like looking in the mirror.

Understand?

Second: your success will be in direct proportion to how much your beliefs, actions, behaviors, and your list of like/hate is DIFFERENT from the majority and all those around You.

My list for example – most people are the opposite of what I’ve mentioned.

Slow, lazy, non-committal, pushovers, pleasers, carefree, stingy, talkers, etc.

You differentiate Yourself by example… they don’t have to be mine, so long as they are not everyone else’s.

I nearly forgot –

Posted in: Blog by admin on June 17, 2010

Yep, this email just about slipped my mind altogether this week. None the less, you’re getting it, now, a day late. Just goes to show, I really do type em all out myself, spur of the moment each week…because I’m thinking about You.

You might be thinking, well, what’s this one little email matter anyhow? And if you knew how frustrated I was with myself this morning for forgetting about it – and wondered why, You’d be underestimating it’s importance.

But the, just about everybody, underestimates the importance of – everything.

Life?

Certainly, business.

As Dan Kennedy says, the book, “don’t sweat the small stuff” was another one of the books that sells because of the title – everybody wishes it were true.

It’s a good excuse maker…

Today, I’m going to give you insight into why this little email, matters so much.

3 big reasons.

1 – success is more about ‘just showing up’ than just about anybody would admit

2 – it’s differentiation, because so few, if any, will do it, copy it, follow through with it

3 – I’m human, and really am ‘thinking about you’ every week, continuing our dialogue, whether you like it or not…eventually it’ll lead to something, for someone, at sometime

Let me say it a bit differently –

I think it was PT Barnum who was ask if his advertising was paying off and he said something like this, “yes, about half of it, but he just wasn’t sure which half.”

The point –

You don’t know when You showing up will matter and to who.
But You just know it does. And it will.

People aren’t ready for you at the same time, all the time, that’s why consistency is so important. You know this.

If there were one thing that would make a significant difference in your business, for the long haul, it’s paying more attention to your customers and prospects and communicating with them when You’re not just asking for money.

At the end of the day it’s about relationships.

I always say, people buy from people, not websites, brick n mortar stores, companies, etc

So, come hell or high water, this one little email is critical, because it might be this week, that one person gets an idea, or decides to open and read, down on their luck, and they remember I’m here for them. Or they might have just experienced that turning point, ready to step up.

And what if, I wouldn’t let em down by not showing up…when they needed it the most.

Can’t take that chance.

Besides, I know how much any one prospect/customer has the potential to be worth to me. Just one – worth writing an email a week for the rest of my life, believe me.

For yours, mine, and their benefit – I’ve got to keep in typing…

And if you’re not – I question your serious commitment to your customers and prospects who support you…

Write on – communicate more – show up!

Are You Your Customers American Idol –

Posted in: Blog by admin on June 2, 2010

Okay, if you’re staying up with me on these little emails and putting them to work in Your mind to profit from…this one’s a keeper. Of course I say that about all of them, but a little partial. You be the judge.

I’ve talked to you before about one of weekly family routines, when it’s one, is to watch the American Idol show. Personally I love listening to people sing and the kids and Maddy all enjoy music very much.

Still, it’s the competition and guessing “who’s going home next week” that definitely builds the anticipation.

And, I do watch it for business and marketing lessons, as you should know, my antennas are always up. There were several throughout the season and improvements and things being done all the time during the programming, there are things that apply.

Same reason I watch professional wrestling…HONEST, that’s the only reason. The business lessons. (oh, who am I kidding – I really don’t watch it much anymore, but I miss it, because it is THE greatest show on earth, if you are a serious student of brand proliferation and herd building – Vince is a genius, I could double their business with 2 simple strategies, but ain’t paying me (yet) and in case he reads this, I’m not telling – still it’d be worth studying if you can get pass the drama and weirdness)

Back to my point, because it’s got nothing to do with that –

Lee won American Idol, in case you don’t know, and Crystal could have. Both are wonderful, the 2 best, and certainly the 2 most serious about their careers and marketable. Casey and Big Mike, great too, but it ended as it should have, in my not so humble opinion.

Here’s why I like Lee so much:

If you watched him from the very first day he was chosen, he wanted it bad, but they all do, but he was more focused, in the zone, serious, and constantly adapted and improved.

I remember the moment when they decided to keep him above someone else prior to the top 12 selections and he was very lucky at the time, because he just wasn’t showing his confidence.

Then – every single week, his confidence grew, his discipline held out, and he was 100% committed to his purpose, and clear about one thing…winning the competition.

What’s all this have to do with You and Your Business.

Well –

Focus.

Discipline.

Commitment.

Purpose.

Clarity.

All the same things that You need to win.

This week I’m not going to connect the dots for You about how this ties directly, immediately, and perfecting into Your Marketing…I’m going to let You do that.

But it’s there.

Because if You don’t exert and influence Your Prospects and Customers with these 5 things, they are going to vote for You with their money.

The show was about Votes, getting people to do something – same as You.

Their marketing media was their voice.

But their message, oh, that’s the big one, their message came across like this:

The more their confidence showed through

The more their passion showed through

The more people were confident and passionate for them.

Lee and Crystal we’re more confident and passionate, without fail, every week, than any others – Casey and Big Mike next.

They made the Prospects believe – They got the votes – Votes of Confidence and Passion.

This is not to say any of the others were not passionate and were not confident, some were some weren’t, they all did amazing and made it very far.

But at the end of the day, GETTING CLOSE TO GETTING A CUSTOMER, still leaves You with NO CUSTOMER.

Almost MAKING MONEY – is still NO MONEY.

You’ve got to move em baby.

People buy Your confidence and passion in yourself and in what you’re selling.

That You can take to the bank, and make a whole lot of money with. Congratulations to Lee and Crystal and all of them.

Now – why don’t You think about what You can do to be more Passionate and Confident with Your Prospects. It’s real simple…are you getting as many people to vote with their money as you’d like – well then, start here, by re-reading this email.

You’ll profit from it.

It’s All About S P E E D

Posted in: Blog by admin on

A good friend and private client of mine is heading down to North Carolina, I’m pretty sure, for a birthday present from his wife where he’ll be racing around the track at one of those Professional ‘real deal’ Race Tracks.

What a rush!

I bring this up, because as you know, the Indy 500 is this weekend. This race, a fascination around the world, brings more notoriety to Indianapolis than anything else, undoubtedly.

In the race, as you know, seconds matter. Win or lose, big money or not, and in this case, life or death, tragedy or triumph.

Can You imagine how much more shit you’d get done in your business if it were Life and Death or the stakes were really that high.

Well, this brings the good news, bad news, situation.

Good News is – unless you’ve got the necessity to carry a gun and hide from your prospects or competition – You success and wealth in your business probably doesn’t come down to living and dying.

Bad News is – so long as you keep acting as if its no big deal and doesn’t really matter and there is always tomorrow philosophy, you’re going to continue to be disappointed with your output and income.

You can, of course, CREATE the ‘need for speed’ and CREATE the ‘life or death’ scenario so to speak.

One of the incredibly talented and successful Glazer-Kennedy Info-Mastermind Members of Bill Glazers, Lloyd Irvin teaches what he calls his “gun to the head philosophy”.

And certainly, Bill and Dan are known for their “speed” and how much they get done.

I’d challenge You to take an honest look at yourself and your business, all the things you want to do, must do, to reach the level of success You’re after, then STOP accepting Excuses.

Hey, we all MAKE excuses, but You don’t have to ACCEPT them.

Make Business and Implementation a RACE with yourself.

Here’s a few tips.

Set Yourself up for success with an Environment conducive to SPEED and IMPLEMENTATION.

Make sure Your taking care of yourself so you can perform at a top level.

Get the pit crew shaped up and ready to roll, that means people around you, your support systems, vendors, outsourcing, etc.

Create and Live by RULES of Engagement in terms of how you will work and communicate.

Most importantly, if you want to win the race, You’ve got to have a start and a finish. You’ve got to know what you’re chasing, what you’re after, how many laps, and what’s considered “a win”.

Stop running around in circles day-to-day.

Start working towards something.

When people start commenting that You always seem like your in a hurry, you seem more determined, walking a fine line between rude and assertive.

When you start getting frustrated with yourself and it pains you when you’re running behind or not getting everything done.

When You’re getting a RUSH out of your productivity and your small victories each day

You’ll start getting more done.

Look, when during the Race, it’s all go time. Your day, in your business, ought to be that way too. I didn’t say you don’t get to sleep, relax on Sundays, or go on vacation…

What I am saying is when you work, really work, and embrace SPEED – it makes all the rest of life more enjoyable and fruitful, when you learn to get things done – You’ll find you’ve got more time to go around, not less.

So, here’s to flooring the gas pedal of your business…

Let your need for speed take over, put the pedal to the metal, enjoy the Race this weekend, and put yourself in the drivers seat from now on!
